Maternity Leave for Account Executives

Hello everyone,

How to compensation Account executives during maternity/paternity is not an easy question.

Sometimes there are conflicting points of view on how you compensate an AE during 3 months leave, especially when 40% to 50% of the AE earnings are made up in commission.

There a lots of things to think about: quota retention, guaranteed commissions, etc…

For quota alone, there can be many options:

  1. Leave quota alone and do not pay any variable comp;
  2. Pro-rate their quota;
  3. Leave quota alone but pay out as if they hit 100% performance to quota;
  4. Pay the AE part (or full) based on sales made by a covering rep or manager;
